Where does Linwood do business?
Linwood was founded in 1968 to help customers build their new home.
This initially involved supplying a home package sometimes called a home kit. The home package included design, construction plans, and all the material required to build the basic structure of the home.
Changing regulations and greatly increased construction complexity required major revisions of content of the home package. This allowed a much higher level of design customization to accomodate a variety of different kinds of property. It also provided major support to customers in terms of project guidance and assisting in the development of realistic budgets.
The result was a major increase in business to a point where over 10,000 homes have been built by Linwood customers. These have mostly been built in North America but the company has also exported homes to over 26 different countries.
The next step was for Linwood to expand its services to offer full-service general contractor capability in many areas. This has been so successful that Linwood is now one of the largest custom home builders in the country.

Linwood has project advisors serving BC (Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands, Richmond, Chiliwack, Squamish, and Kamloops), Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton), Ontario (Toronto, Barrie, Marmora, Haliburton and Calabogie). In addition, we support sales activities in most provinces and territories.
Being based in British Columbia is important primarily for ease and direct access to high-quality Canadian lumber. The BC office has a large-scale manufacturing plant where all of the materials for the homes are pre-cut and then shipped out to various locations around the world.
Linwood Homes opened up a second manufacturing plant in Marmora, ON to better service the Ontario clientele. However, the vast majority of materials used in the packages are still shipped from BC.
In addition to our headquarters, based in Richmond, BC, we also have sales locations in several other cities where you can visit our show homes in person.
